The Veterans Assistance Commission of Cook County (VACCC) is the only department in Cook County that offers
emergency and immediate financial assistance for essential needs such as food, shelter and utilities specifically
to Cook County Veterans and their families. Transportation to their offices has been a barrier to access to their
services.
To address this issue, the VACCC is partnering with Abbott Connection, LTD dba A-List Limousine and Transit Services, LTD for a one-year contract. A-List Limo & Bus is a veteran-owned transportation company which has been serving Chicagoland, Northwest Indiana, and Southeast Wisconsin for up to fifteen years.
Starting December 1, 2024, the VACCC is launching a one-year pilot program to initially provide transportation
between the Hines VA Medical Center and the VACCC office located in
the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center. The
goal of the program is to increase access to the office by providing shuttle service Monday through Friday, between
the hours of 9:00am – 2:00pm (the VACCC office closes at 3pm). Additional routes will launch in March of 2025 and
will include the Orland Park Vet Center, Evanston Vet Center, and the Chicago Heights Vet
Clinic.
PLEASE NOTE:
The Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center has strict rules regarding contraband, if you do bring one of the below listed items, please note there is no on-site location for you to store them while you visit the VACCC.
Contraband consists of those items which an individual may legally possess but are prohibited from being brought into a courthouse. These items include, but are not limited to, the following:
Knives, Razor Blades, Scissors, Powders, Liquids, Aerosol Spray Cans, Markers, Pepper Spray, Mace
Glass Items, Tools, Nails or Screws Etc.
Cameras, Radios, Tape Recorders
Rolled Coins, Handcuff Keys, Pad Locks, Heavy Chain Items, Heavy Metallic Belts, Knitting Needles, Corkscrews
And any other items that Court Services Department (C.S.D.) members feel will compromise the security or integrity of courthouse and courtroom proceedings
