VA HEALTHCARE ENROLLMENT AND ELIGIBILITY

VA Healthcare is a medical benefits system provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that offers eligible Veterans access to healthcare services, including primary care, specialty care, mental health treatment, prescriptions, preventative care, emergency services, and long-term care support. Eligibility for VA Healthcare is generally based on factors such as military service history, discharge status, disability ratings, income, exposure history, and other qualifying conditions.

The Veterans Assistance Commission of Cook County (VACCC) Veteran Service Officer (VSO) Program provides free assistance to eligible Veterans seeking to enroll in VA Healthcare or better understand their eligibility status and available healthcare benefits. VACCC VSOs assist Veterans by reviewing eligibility requirements, helping complete enrollment applications, identifying required documentation, and connecting Veterans with appropriate VA healthcare resources and facilities.
